Your trading computer
isn't the same as a computer that you would use to complete simple
tasks. What this means is you can use a trading computer to also
complete emails and Internet browsing. But, in contrast, you wouldn't
want to use the computer you bought to pay your bills to trade on.
Why is this? These mass manufactured computers are great for those
daily tasks, but they are not built for trading.
There are some common
computer symptoms that you will experience in these types of
computers. Have you ever experienced a sluggish startup or a delay in
programs and Internet browsers being able to load information? These
are standard signs of an underpowered computer. Not the right
equipment for trading.
These issues are caused
by low amounts of RAM and a processor with a low benchmark. If your
computer is taking seconds or even minutes to load information, how
is that going to translate to your trading? It will most definitely
cause a missed opportunity. Those delays can cause you lost
executions.
The main key to remember
in understanding why a trading computer is different from a standard
computer is that you need different functions. You might opt for a
gaming computer that you could use for trading. Those computers are
built to maximize a graphic based experience. This means that there
is a very expensive graphics card installed for this purposed. So,
the computers largely expensive because of components like these.
What we want you to
understand is that you will want to research what components are
being advertised for the computer you are interested and what
components you actually need. If your computer has an expensive
graphics card but a subpar processor, it stands to reason that your
purchase is expensive because of the graphics card installed. A great
processor is just as important to you. You need to be able to trade
in real time, with out having any issues.
Inherently, you will
encounter issues with these computers because you are over using
components that are underpowered. Gaming computers bank on the fact
that you will be over using the graphics card and the quality of the
card installed can take it. But you will be utilizing more than just
that and this is the main reason why this set up just doesn’t work
for trading.
This
is something that you want to keep your distance from. It might be
tempted to be hasty and just by that computer that those retailers
offer. In the long run, you will be happier with a computer that is
built specifically for trading.
